Hmm. There are a bunch of different choices available for new games.
Are you using the website or one of the apps?

Oh im on the app and all i can see is a option for playing 10min games other than prolonged games

Try clicking "New Game". It should bring up a screen where you can choose a time control before you click "Play" to start a game.
