How is truth known?
Tomtalk
I mean the earth is a sphere. Do I know that? Does anyone? How can anyone know anything?

May your days be merry and bright. Nice

You see I've found the truth I'm just wondering how I got there. Let's look at how it was established the earth is round.
Tomtalk
Firstly they used solar measuring devices and using these realised what was going on.

Eventually they were able to provide direct visionary images to us.

I suppose I myself haven't achieved either of those things directly. I haven't looked at the earth or worked out solar calculations. I've only relied on what I've been shown and took it as fact.

Thanks fa. Hey can't we have your real first name or an abbreviation of it?

I have some ideas about how it is I believe that the earth is spherical.

I can think of the fact the moon is spherical.

That an eclipse shows a round earth.

Gravity suggests to me a round earth. Gravity sucks things together.
Tomtalk
Some things I directly observe then and some are logical deductions.
Tomtalk
Now I'll look at how it is I believe that nature is all that truly exists. Natural forces and natural materials.
Tomtalk
Interesting!
Tomtalk
Well hmm. Maybe I should just start with whatever comes to mind.

The idea of evolution makes sense to me. That through causality things happen.

I've learnt that love rather than being something we choose is merely a part of nature.

Tomtalk
I find the sunset analogy useful. That a sunset though it appears to have an innate beauty is merely a set of vibrations.

This demonstrates to me that our experience isn't to be relied upon. Rather we should use our logic.
Tomtalk
I suppose that my recent experience after years of mapping my mind caused me to want to investigate the truth of reality.

Initially I found I was love but this confused me as I thought am I love or the observation of that love?

Finally I decided that what I am is both of those things.

Consciousness and love are both a part of nature.
Tomtalk
I did experience actually that I have no free will and that caused me to imagine that the self is a delusion.

You know I found actually Einstein and Hawking agreed with me!

Buddha too naturally.

I expect though that Darwin knew this a long time ago.

I suppose there wasn't a benefit for him in stating you don't exist. At least not in the sense you believe you do.

You're causality at work that's all. Cause and effect.
Tomtalk
It makes a person wonder about morality. Einstein talked of this. He said the absence of free will doesn't mean morality isn't important it means it's more important.

I can see a truth to this. If we don't condemn any man or woman at all as we accept they behave as they must then why allow or cause suffering? It's indefensible.
