You ll be back Tom....and if you don t.... Take care my friend
relax and be yourself
Awww man, I feel bad now. I hope you come back after a cooling off period.
No one should take these forums too seriously????
You've been overly using the bathroom Tom, as of late, you've just been criticised for throwing money out of the window, probably because you've never been working as hard as you should. You don't value money enough Tom.
I know the mediation guys talk about the mind being a tool rather than driving things and it sounds a similar thing if not the same that you're referring too.
In order to know the pattern one must create the pattern. But the creation of the pattern denies the capacity to look! The understanding of the pattern can only happen when it's gone already!!
The question then is, how is the pattern to go? It doesn't go by understanding it ( becausae of what was said above). What makes the pattern crash?
At the movies the other day I felt like I was ceasing to exist as a self and it was a pretty horrifying experience . But maybe it's like skydiving. Gets better you know. I guess if that experience reoccurs it might become peaceful.
It can happen when watching a beautiful sunset as well, or any time one gets distracted with something and momentarily the self is perceived as not being there. However, at deeper levels, it's still there; when it's really not there, the experience is infinitely richer( there are no words) than when watching a movie, on a big screen, in a dark room, on a Tuesday afternoon( when there are no people), in IMAX!!
But joking aside, you are correct, when the death of the self is approaching, one is overwhelmed with fear. Which meakes most people who come this far, go back. But for the love of god, why? Go back to what?!
Actually I tell a lie. If I'm slouched back I drift to sleep. I have to sit up to be mindful and notice my experience and allow my mind to unwind and unknot its tangles.
I who??? You are reinforcing a certain structure ( the pattern), which is relying on a center piece in command at the control tower(!)
There is control written on most of your statements, I'm not condemning it, I'm just letting you know about the existence of such control.
After which comes the opposite reaction, of 'letting go'. The very existence of such notion implies control first, then letting go of control.
But here's the trick: the letting go of control is also part of the control tendency, which acts as a true perpetuum mobile...
Why can't the cup just be empty, from the beginning. Then there's nothing to let go of.
I wish you all love peace and happiness.
Bye guys .
If your time on the threads is over, I will leave you all of my vast fortune. Dream on.....BUDDY. You can't control your impulses. See you soon.
Ha!
How about relax and just be then? Is that about right . Troy what would you wish for others and how would you describe your present state?
Myself I'm relaxed and being myself.
Haha, we are going back, aren't we? You keep answering the Shakesperian question positively...
I wish you all love peace and happiness.

Note to self: is oneself different from such impulses?
A cigar is a potential danger as well--in a larger sense, everything we do, actually, is dangerous.

Take a look at 5.), within the given link:

Smoking is one of the leading causes of statistics.
Yet deadly as it is, smoking is but a small issue in the modern society. Most people, not knowing what to do and how to act, get involved with the little issues. Like, say, ending hunger in such-and-such country, or part of a country. And they send packages of food and then what? Next months the problem reappears.
Same with smoking, drinking, or simply partying ( which may lead to that type of behaviour); without understanding the bigger context of those activities, one may simply continue the disruptive behaviour, or simply may see no connection with themselves: 'what's world hunger, for instance, got to do with oneself?'
Plenty, I dare say...

Quite right. We simply don't care about anything other than ourselves and what makes us 'happy'. Then that's the end of communication with others.
I wish you all love peace and happiness.
Bye guys .
