chocolate is a good reason
Roarrie is Switching Over to Shogi?

And folks, chess is too complex, 32 pcs, 8x8=64 squares.
But once I switch to shogi, I wouldn't be playing the regular 40 pcs, 9x9=81, it's even more complex than our chess, never mind the variant with 92 pcs and 12x12 squares.
This is the game for me

but... you only can play Shogi on internet. At least in Spain noone plays Shogi, i don't know in your country.
is not a problem?

Shogi is a fascinating variant of Chess. I would love to learn and play. But as I already play a game that few know about or play--GO . I do not want to add another itch I cannot scratch....

Ill have to check if any places to meet shogi players here in Atlanta

I understand, Go is much more complex than chess. Thanks for visiting

never heard the word braintiful
For example , this chess player is braintiful (coined from brain + beautiful)

She wouldn't play you, even if you offered her a basket full of chocolate!!
I know, mate, too sad, isn't it

Then again - my wife would probably learn to play if there was chocolate involved!! With lockdown, even I am putting weight on. My daily excercise is opening another beer and pouring it.

I am a weak GO player and a novice at chess. I am not sure that one is truly harder than an other. Both exceed the human potential to calculate and fully exploit possibilities.

Mate, a Japanese guy on Twitter suggested 9-square Masu shogi (I gave a video about above) which is the right thing to do in the beginning, to familiarize yourself with the basic piece relationships. That's the same idea I've been advocating in early chess, to play mini-games. For example, my Lesson One is 2R vs 2B and they acquaint with three out of four basic piece contacts in chess.
So that 3x3 variant is a perfect starting point. There are 40 possible starting positions in it. Some positions are with fewer pcs, meaning other are considered already taken. Then you can use drop, that is bringing captured pcs back to the game. The practice seemingly originated back in the XV c. when they introduced a new practice. Why killing an enemy when they can serve you in future battles?
Mate, show these to your wife. Maybe she gets into it

Oh dear roaring I hate to break this to you but as someone who not only plays chess and go but also shogi brantiful women just do not flock to players of complex board games. If your luck improves considerably in this area, you might consider my father’s strategy. When he met my mother at the Washington DC chess club, he cleverly lost the game they played and tuh duh romance blossomed and I came along! Years later, my mom told me—pretending to be foolish which she was not but a truly brantiful woman—“And I don’t understand why I never won another game...”
I have been thinking for some time now to retire from chess and switch over to shogy.
I would not explain the reasons for this decision, which I do not think can be of interest to anyone...
