Are self driving cars good or bad? Should they be commonly used?

Yes

I don't think so. You can't make the computer know every single situation. A pool is two meters side, a human on meter that side.

There is a fallen tree on the road.... Too many possibillities to make a computer know them all.

not only that , but many people enjoy driving.

I recently heard they are experimenting with a self driving Trailer Truck going cross country as we post. They have a driver in the cab just in case of any problems should arise. At the rate we are going now with automation, many people will become obsolete.

Self driving cars already arebeing used, i know a person who possesses one.

You can drive them. It is requested that there is always a person behind the driving wheel, to drive it himself at some hard situation.

I've heard that you can drive 2000 kilometres without stopping  to load.

welcome to the machine folks , the Luddites were prescentient in what machines and the workforce means

companies like amazon rely heavily on automation , the human aspect is worked to the limits and is replaced more often as humans struggle to keep up with the effortless endless automated workmate

it would be good that all mundane tasks are performed by robots freeing the human for better ventures , but it dont work like that

instead automation increases unemployment whilst increasing company profits

so generally i tend to a negative view , but cars im extremely negative in view of too , they kill loads of people , pollute and need us addicted to oil ,

they sell the myth of freedom whilst enchaining the driver with insurance road tax etc

would robotised transport be non oil using ? will it be able to cut down the carmegeddon that fills our hospitals ? if so then will it also have provision to employ those its introduction made unemployed?

It could be made, that only people after fifty are allowed to drive cars, and make trains, planes and buses cheaper.

Answering your question, Anok: One of the biggest advantages, that self driving cars give, is that they are electric. And therefore, they are much better ecologically.

But on the other hand, I've heard people say that to manufacture an electric car is really unecological.

whats this a to b obsession when we dont even know our neighbours name ?

granted we got to get places but why all this you get a little box you too etc , and the cost of a car !

public transport that is efficient in its task and of good standard as an alternative

this will see a massive decline in drink drive or other vehicle related crime
