About the North and South Pole.

Is it one long pole that runs all the way through the earth, or two shorter poles planted at the ends?

Avatar of Charlotte

i think it will be two short poles, a continuous long one would melt in the middle

If it were two short poles, then the shifting of one shouldn't affect the other -yet it does.

Then why doesn't the one at the south fall out, being upsidedown all the time?

Avatar of x-5058622868

It's the same reason why the penguins don't fly away.

Avatar of MSteen

It's one long pole, colored with spiraling red and white stripes, like a barber pole. Surely you've seen it pictured in animated Christmas specials.

They're made in Poland.

If it was one pipe and it managed to go right through would a man on one end yell into it would it be heard on the other end ?

Wow! So, if someone goes there with like a really big Monkey Wrench or something and grips the pole tightly. he can stop the earth from spinning?

That would mess with the space time continuum. No wonder they don't allow people to go there.....

Avatar of AlCzervik

Nobody has tried it yet because they're afraid they will fall off the planet.

I would imagine Santa Claus would know what's up. I'm totally writing to him again.

sorry for bumping but this most important science topic must not go unnoticed.

also there's a lot that can be done with a monkey wrench.

There's a frog on the bump on the log in the hole in the bottom of the sea.
