It seems that there will not be a Volume 2 of the above metioned series ( the fans were too cheap enough copies of Vol 1 ).

I bought a 1970's Chess Challenger because its creator began development on chess computers after seeing Spock play against a computer on the original series. It's very slow due to its 15k processor, but so am I.

Thanks for the post Pineconehenry. I don't think that I've seen one on those but it sounds like a fun machine.

I was visiting Youtube earlier and came across a funny video of " Captain Kirk ". It was Kevin Polak doing his stand-up where he plays the part of William Shatner on Star Trek, very funny stuff.

Well how many " Real " Star Trek fans do we have ? CBS Watch has just put out a beautiful special edition entitled: Star Trek - Heroes and Villians ( this is Volume 1 of their 50 Years Legacy Edition ). So how many visitors here have bought this very nice book ? Volume 2 will be out in September so don't be shy, step right up and buy these items ( if you like Star Trek that is  lol ).

Well we seem to have another Special Edition in print now ( also for nobody out there to buy  lol ). This time it is being brought out together with Newsweek and is entitled: " Star Trek - 50 Years ". Yup Star Trek was launched in 1966 and 50 years have now passed.

Just recently got the chance to order the whole of the First Series on a set of DVDs ( it covers about 20 discs  lol ). Yup I will be able to enjoy any episode at any time, not bad I must say !

I grew up watching Star Trek re-runs with my dad, I like the ones with Kirk even if the special effects are cheesy. We would play a game to see who could guess the episode the fastest, of course he had a big advantage over me having seen them all when they first aired.

Thanks for the post Ivandh. I'm old enough to have watched the First Series back in my teenage years. I remember also how people got upset when they tried to take the show off the air the first time. Plus I also liked the movies that they made based on the original shows.

Well X-mas has arrived here on Feb. 25th !!! Yesterday I went over to the Post Office and there it was   ---   a package containing the 25 disc set of Star Trek TOS ( with 79 episodes ). That should keep me busy during the evenings for the next several weeks  lol.

CaptainPike

I'm grinding my teeth in jealousy! Enjoy!

Thanks for the very nice post CaptainPike. Yes it will be fun and should also give me a few things to write about here in this thread.

CaptainPike

There's another thread (I started it, LoL) called "The Last One To Post is the Biggest Fan of Star Trek". That's also a good place to post about the episodes ...

badenwurtca

Thanks for the post and for the info CaptainPike.

I've started watching TOS on the new discs. They did a very nice job in getting the shows redone, it's like watching a movie ( very clear picture ). However they do not have the episodes in order, for example the first disc has: episode 6, then 8 and also 2, very odd   lol.

CaptainPike

I think I'd stick with the originals rather than the remastered, methinks.

badenwurtca

Well many years ago I first saw the episodes on a black & white TV and it's nicer to see them in colour now.

I just learned that William Shatner recently had his 85th birthday, that is to say on March 22cnd ( LLAP Captain Kirk ).

---   Well I've made it thru the 1st season of TOS, even with the very random order that the episodes were placed onto the discs. I'm happy to report that I remembered them all, mind you some episodes were not that clear in my memory, not having seen some of them for many years. Now I'm going to go thru these episodes in the correct order and dig into things a little deeper.
