Read “All Quiet on the Western Front” at the age of 13. Got pretty depressed, but got over it quickly. Then I watched the latest film adaptation, and… wow. I’m never gonna forget the scene where Tjaden takes a fork and repeatedly stabs his neck IN FRONT OF HIS BEST FRIENDS

All I said is that I’ve read books that are a bit more graphic…

Just a heads up: WW2 books are cool… But EXTREMELY GRUESOME at times holy [CENSORED]

All Quiet is a book about WW1, so it’s pretty similar ig, just that it doesn’t focus on the action, more of the soldiers in their free time. There are some battles, but they’re not from an omnipresent viewpoint. You’re just as confused as Paul, the main character

Neat. I can’t remember the title of the WW2 book I had… but it was about like the Japanese vs USA side of the war

Avatar of TheRealTorchLit
Jeez, that side of the war was really depressing…

Yeah they got really deep into detail. They even talked about Teddy Rosevelt in the Indian Removal Act at one point and they… did horrible things to the natives that I can’t even describe here

I think you’ve got the wrong one. Teddy Roosevelt wasn’t president back then

It was WW2 but for some reason they talked about him… or someone else I don’t remember the whole book

I liked “Killers of the Flower Moon” and “All’s Quiet on the Western Front”. I would recommend them both.

#40 Yeah. That was not great. The wars in general aren’t great and the only reason why they don’t keep us up at night is because we don’t hear about everything that happens.
