Song

How about "American Pie" by Don McLean. It certainly has "meaningful lyrics." The "day the music died" refers to the plane crash in 1959 that killed several well-known musical performers. Despite the sad undertone, there is a nostalgic cheerfulness that lingers as the song continues; the music isn't really dead if we remember and continue to play songs of old. Additionally, the song references many cultural elements of the 1960's (in the United States of America) such as referencing Elvis Presley ("The King"), or Bob Dylan ("The Jester").
The "actual meaning" of the song was indicated in Don McLean's personal manuscripts for the song and sold at auction for $1.2 million. When Don McLean was asked in an interview what the song "means" he famously replied in a joking manner: "It means I don't ever have to work again if I don't want to."
Of course, this is simply a paraphrased "meaning" of this song that I came up with just now. Later on McLean would say that the lyrics can't be translated and perfectly captured because they are "poetry."
