How about Travis Edmonson?
When all mankind has ceased to fight,
I'll raise my head in thanks each night-
For this rich earth and all it means,
For golden days and peaceful dreams.
I really liked "Allentown" and "Goodnight Saigon" from Joel's "Nylon Curtain" album.
To me Manilow is a bit syrupy but I can understand the attraction.
I visited Johnny Mercer's grave in the spooky Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah a few years ago. There's also a statue of him in Ellis Square. There's also a Moon River Brewery down on W. Bay St. It supposed to be haunted.
They may be, but not by me.
have you you tubed it since this comment?
Why? Is there some requirement to that effect?
There are probably thousands of songwriters in popular music/folk/rock/blues etc. - so many, it would be impossible to mention most of them. But I'm sure each person has his/her favorites and that's what this thread is meant to be about.
Some of my favorites include Bob Dylan, Felice and Boudleaux Bryant, Paul Simon, Emily Saliers and Amy Ray, Sheryl Crow, Harry Nilsson, John Fogarty, Joni Mitchell, Sarah McLaclan, Lennon & McCartney and Leonard Cohen.
How about y'all?
