Super Smash Bros. Series: Who is your favorite/"main" character?

I am just curious, "Who is your favorite/'main' in the Super Smash Bros. Series?"

Personally my "main" has been Pikachu since game 1 on the Nintendo 64 all the way through game 4 on the Wii U. Due to this, Pikachu is probably also my favorite Smash character. Of course, I can still play fairly competitively with almost any character in any Smash game title (although going from fast Melee to slow Brawl still feels odd). 

I especially like to "mess around" against friends as Yoshi, Mr. Game & Watch or a few others. 

What Smash characters does everyone else play as? (competitively, for fun, just like to play as etc.)

Maybe it will be weird picks, but my favourites are: Bayonetta, Palutena and Waluigi

Course, I only played 1 game and spammed cheap kirby attacks, but..

Waluigi  That reminds me, if there is a certain outfit/character color you always prefer: then specify that too.

For example: I rarely play as Mario, but when I do - I like the American-looking outfit. He looks like a popcorn salesman and I just find this funny xD. In reality, this outfit was a reference to a Mario Golf game where Mario wore that outfit during the "U.S. Open" in golf; most (if not all) Smash outfits/colors reference something.

hahaha I wouldn't know my guy, I don't play Smash Bros but I heard that Ryu was in Smash Bros and I thought that was cool.  I hear he even has his SRK I wonder if the motion is the same.....

lol. I mean it is the same idea with a lot of Ryu players playing "Shoryuken!" No, it is not the same control input though. Actually, Ryu is interesting because he has far more "moves" than other characters (holding a button versus pressing is an entirely different move, unlike most characters).

You are correct "Waluigi" is not a playable characer (although he was an assist trophy). Many people call Luigi in the Purple outfit Waluigi (since that is clearly the reference that the game creators were making). In fact, many outfit colors come from many different characters or situations. Megaman colors indicate different powerups from various Robot Masters; Pit's colors reference Cupid (Pink) and Dark Pit (Black) in addition to some game power up colors; Jigglypuff sports Leaf's hat, Nurse Joy's hat, Sleeping Kirby hat (as Jigglypuff can put opponents to sleep with "Sing" and fall asleep themselves by "Rest." 

In Smash, it is actually hard to find any outfits/colors that are not references to something (if this is interesting to you, there are several YouTube videos that explain many of the references). In short, "when players say they play as "Waluigi", then they literally mean that they play as "Luigi" in the purple outfit.

I would if I played the game but I don't sadly, I play mostly street fighter sorry  

I'd be tempted to pick him lol so are you a really good player at Smash bros or do you just play it casually? 

I am fairly good at it, but only play casually (only attended two Smash tournaments before). My younger brother on the other hand (who is my "sparring partner") is much better at it than I am and has played in several Smash tournaments.
