That Moment When Your Opponent Is Hanging Mate In 1 And You Both Notice It

After my brother showed me this video, I was playing some blitz chess - and this is what I was thinking. Is it stupid? Well...yeah, but I thought I'd show it. wink.png

I hung mate in 1 yesterday, and suddenly my opponent starting thinking longer than usual.

I started saying a long list of obscenities, mad at myself for doing it not so much at being slow rolled, and then... and then my opponent didn't mate me lol.

And it wasn't one of those, haha I didn't mate you, but you' can't avoid it anyway. It was just a 1 time chance.

Yeah, I occasionally have those too. In this case, I will just move quickly (longer they "think", then the better chance they will see it). If OTB, then I just put on my confident look as if I know exactly what I am doing.

Unless really low on time, hanging mate in one happens really rarely, but similar ideas will a simple tactic are much more common - but the same psychology applies.

It happens, this is why Chess tactics are so very important.
