There is a light sketch of a hand on the bloody stump. Is that an erase mark?

Yeah I was going to draw Kermit with a hand holding a trophy but I could t draw the hand so I decided to leave the hand and this is what happened

My favorite ring of Hell was Malebolja/Malebolgia. That was ring 8 or 9 of the Inferno if I remember correctly.  It was the only ring of the underworld that consisted of other rings (9 I think?) within itself ("ditches"; "purses").  The first "ditch/purse" of Malebolgia is often depicted on the cover of The Divine Comedy.

Here we see the first play on the Latin homonym (the 'Evil-purse'). Those who pilfered from "purses" are plopped into "ditches".  Head-first they drive the previous soul deeper into the hole in the ground.  They stay there for a while, feet in the air tickled by heat.  Some are even aflame.

I've always interpreted Dante to be very compassionate and concerned.  But in this depiction, you'll see that many people interpret him as morbidly curious.  Read him thoughtfully and thoroughly and you will that he is never amused at the others' sufferings.  Furthermore, you'll see that not only does it break his heart to see others suffer, but it also pains him to discover the reasons that they wind up in these torments in the first place.

As for the previous post (if it's still visible); I think that is a depiction of the first 'crust' or layer of the inferno.  Just before you descend, there is an initial layer where souls are continually sandblasted.  Nude, they turn from side to side trying to shield themselves from the sharp wind and grains of sand.  There is nowhere to hide; nothing to hide behind.  Those who take heed to abandon hope will take solace, they actually find hope in their suffering.  Those who do not, suffer even worse without prospect of escape.

I have this in Italian.

I believe our dearly departed op did ask for original works in his op. So the least one could do was to provide the original credits.
