One group that I may have mentioned earlier is Herman's Hermits. Most people have heard their big hit entitled " Henry the 8th ". However they also had out some other nice numbers including " I'm Into Something Good ", " There's A Kind Of Hush " and " Mrs Brown You've Got A Lovely Daughter ".
The Beatles Or The Rolling Stones ( Etc ) Part II
Thanks for the post Moterinlaw. Herman's Hermits also had out their own version of " Ferry Cross The Mersey ", however Gerry & The Pacemakers first released that song back in 1965.
I came across a clip of Canned Heat over on YouTube earlier doing a Blues number and of course I had to also listen to their beautiful 1968 hit " Going Up The Country ", just stunning. Next I heard " Rollin' And Tumblin " where Canned Heat is indeed rolling along lol.
I'm sad to say that Gord Downie ( of Tragically Hip ) had passed away at age 53 from cancer. We have lost a Bright Star from up North here.

that's young. i was going to post positive bleeding from them, but it does not appear on yt. in fact, many tragically hip songs are blocked here for whatever reason.
" Ain't That a Shame " is the feeling today with the passing of the one and only Fats Domino at age 89. One of his many hits was " Blue Monday " with today being a very Blue Wednesday indeed. " Walking To New Orleans " and " Blueberry Hill " as well as " I'm Walking " were among his other hits.
A thread here is asking What Is The Word ? Well of course the answer to that is " The Bird Is The Word " ( released by The Trashmen in 1963 ) lol.
Beatles? "Overrated?!!" Oh, you must not have been around in those first months when their new, "different" music, with its surprising, poetic lyrics and unexpected harmonies started streaming out of our radios. They spear-headed an absolute revolution in popular music, taking it from "Rock Around the Clock" simplicity to intriguing, unpredictable, complex, and varied places like "Penny Lane," "Norwegian Wood," "Lady Madonna," "Ticket to Ride," "Eleanor Rigby," "Lucy in the Sky," "Yesterday." It must be hard to imagine pop music before and after the Beatles, if you weren't there. So don't feel bad -- I forgive you. ... ;-)
--- Good points !

Beatles!
Yeah, I like the Stones, too. But between the two, the Beatles have had a much greater influence on music. They pioneered some cutting edge production techniques and multi-track recording, pushing music boundaries way beyond where they were when the Beatles started experimenting with sound.
The Stones have been around for decades, so have longevity; however, the Beatles produced so much great work while they were together, and then individually after they broke up.
Everyone, of course, is entitled to their own opinion. Others may say the Rolling Stones are better, but for me it has to be The Beatles.
Thanks for that very nice post Motherinlaw. I missed their first visit on the Ed Sullivan Show back many years ago, our darn TV had quit working lol.
