Because the apple fell onto the head Newton when he was sitting on the flat earth then. It is just because Issac sat on the flat earth that the apple fell on his head. If he hadn't sat on the flat earth, the apple would have fallen onto the head of the OP of this forum-thread creator. So, this title is very important here.

Apparently (having looked into it) the earth being flat is the least polarizing of all the conspiracy theories, with both less than 3% of Democrats and less than 3% of Republicans believing in it.

Which further goes to what I said, that it's the most irrelevant load of rubbish that I've ever heard in my life, and to give it a rest.

I'd also add that this in an American cultural thing, and that I shouldn't have to look up about "flat earthers".

So yes, it is promoting conspiracy theories absolutely. Since I now know a bit about it that I didn't before.
