The human power grab

Have you experienced this in a workplace or elsewhere?

You make a contribution and suddenly and swiftly, someone takes credit for what you did?

I could list much for myself, and lots when I was a scientist, but I'll just mention one from a disparate gig. I was appointed a foreman to set up for a visit of the Pope. The other foremen, in being narrow-minded, couldn't figure something out so I had to keep convincing over and over what had to be done. Once it was clear it wasn't more than a few seconds one or two of the guys were commanding to get others to follow in the solution I presented and it was like I suddenly didn't exist. There's a psychology involved - a perceived notion of who is a leader, maybe age, the size of the person, how loud or rough their voice is, how bad or sometimes how good a person is in some relevant manner. Merit is not enough in dealing with humans. There's an added layer, an insidious yet very crucial layer that must be met and others succumb. The ill-effects or simply the end result can be seen not just in work, it's in politics, relationships, you name it. It's something to be aware of.
