I'm hearing Dec 18th for the Star Wars.  UndecidedYou know that thread is gonna be on fire on the 17th....Soooo maybe we should go SPAM/BOMB our attack a day early??  "I got your "Force Awakens" right HERE"!!Yell

I was really hoping they (disney) were going to base this new trilogy on the Timothy Zarn novels, the Dark Force Rising series. It was very well written, far better than any Star Wars movie to date. Now I get this feeling they really screwed things up.

I hope they never...NEVER...get their grubby hands on the STAR TREK franchise.

Now the bad part about the Trek franchise is that no one has taken advantage of the vast universe Roddenberry created. A series could be made focusing entirely on those Klingons who fought during the Battle of Kittomer leading up to the peace treaty with the UFP. That's only one example.

A new topic for Star WARS might be good then!

Yeah, Mac: shop that STAR WARS hokum elsewhere! Yell

akafett;  I agree with you. That same comment could be said about J.R.R. Tolkien's trilogy. Robert Jordan's "Wheel Of Time" would be a fabulous series of movies.Undecided

I see a few people slowly changing their avatars over to star Wars.

Please pay close attention to my avatar. Yes, it's Boba Fett. And take note of what is emblazoned on the pauldron, an indicator of what I'm a bigger fan of.

RonaldJosephCote

Boba Fett vs PredatorSurprised   Cool, I never noticed that.

akafett

Yell No, RJC. That's a delta shield from Star Trek. You actually confused the Trek delta shield (world-wide recognized American icon of sci-fi) with some...Predator...thing!? (I am now smacking your avatar with a proverbial wet tuna) Get it together, dude! Learn your Trek stuff; don't let the great community of Trek nerds down.

Just for the record. Did you really think it was some kind of Predator reference?

How's this?

Do you really not see that black STAR TREK shield on my shoulder?

akafett

Actually, I did like the old Battlestar Galactica series.

DrSpudnik

Oh that was so hokey!

I remember the premiere being interrupted right before the big battle scene by a Jimmy Carter announcement of the Camp David Accord.

Couldn't that wait till morning?

RonaldJosephCote

Jimmy Carter is a Star Trek fan?Surprised Undecided Smile

DrSpudnik

It was a formative moment for us all.

"Battlescars plastica" was what kids in my school called it.

akafett

I will admit that Battlestar Galactica did need a bit of refining. I also like the old Flash Gordan series. Way before my time. I often wonder what it was like back then seeing a sci-fi show like that.

Maybe RonaldJosephCote knows...Laughing

DrSpudnik

That stuff was from my dad's generation!

I saw some of them: people jumping from ship to ship with no pressurized suit, using a cape like wings...total nuttiness.

RonaldJosephCote

The concept of the "cyborg" from B.Galactica was an early precursor of The Terminator.  Subway, Dodge, and "TV Guide" is onboard promoting the Star Wars movie BTW.

Here is some quality sci-fi
