I know the voice was male. I thought maybe the attendant had delivered coffee, and was leaving, with the pretence that, there would be no schduled reason for her to visit the cock-pit again. Are you watching CNN now?? 2amEST. Australia is reporting un-known debris has been found via satelite. Ships are enroute to that position.
The missing plane
Don't some of you have any sense of decency? Many lives most probably have been lost, and you immediately make silly, senseless jokes about the imminent tragedy. Is making twisted jokes or having fun at the expense of people's lives the thing to do? Maybe you need to be involved, and pray God you won't be involved in a tragedy and,by it, learn the hard way how awful and painful this is to those who may have lost their lives or the lives of loved ones. Grow up a little and try praying for them or at least respect them.

>>>> yes you are absolutely right sir and I apologise for anything I have said that may have caused any offense. Please be aware that at no time were the 'jokes' aimed at the poor souls on board the plane and if any disrespect to them came across then I again apologise. The jokes were aimed at the conspiracy theories and poor communications that have been coming from the airline. Unfortunately, it is human nature to use laughter and humour in the face of tragedy and adversity. But now with the news coming in... you're absolutely correct. This is no laughing matter and if the reported debris is that belonging to this plane then my heart and thoughts go out to the passengers (May they rest in peace) and their families at this terribly sad time.
To Babbytigrrr and all those who may have looked like they were disrespecting the crew and passengers on the Malaysian lost airplane: My heart out to you for your kind and prayerful response to my humble note. Let us all pray for the souls that were on the plane and for their families and loved ones, if, indeed they have passed in this tragedy.
The debris may be just that. Debris. If it is from the plane, then we only know 1 thing. It only answers 1 question. It did crash. You still have a dozen other questions, but the debris will lead to the location of the black box. Also, the wheather has been terrible all over the world. I'm sure its no different there.
Let me try and move this forward, like resigning in a no-win chess game. That plane, even empty, is worth millions of dollars. By law, its insured. Not to mention the passegers who had life insurance. Finding the plane, is only half the battle. To collect on those policies, you need cause of death. If for no other reason than too make money, on other people's misery, they will find out what happened. There's too much money at stake not to. It may take 5 yrs, but people smarter than me, who have been doing this for yrs, will study accident forensics.
Jesus Christ; As of 8pm EST, CNN is reporting scammers are on the www, and with fake pictures, they are saying, Flight 370 found. 50 passengers alive. Now that's pretty disgusting. The're not hurting the victims, but the're not helping the surviving relatives. I wouldn't mind shooting those scammers myself.
why we lose hope suddenly why those debris have to be the missing plane's wreckage i don't know about you guys but i'm still with the hijacking probability!
DAM; NBC is repoting that the airline is starting to pay out some claims for lost, and missing people. I didn't see that coming. I trust NBC, but that doesn't sound right.
Here is a pilot's opinion:

Mistakes happens although i still don't want to go for that option
I agree with you Firebrand, but if the navy put a couple of subs in that ocean, we may find them in 6 months.
I think your refering to Air France 447. Your right, but the Woods Hole Ocenagraphic Inststute has a torpedo like device that didn't exist a few yrs ago, because of that crash, and others. CNN did a story on it. It may take 2 weeks just to get it out there. Its called the REMUS 6000. It was used to map the ocean floor to find the Titannic, and AF447, 2-3 miles benieth the surface. Australia has said they will continue the search indefinitely. As of Saterday afternoon, we have 26 countries, and 14 Navyies with satellites. I think its looking more like an accident, and less like a terrorist act.
Thee was an Egytian plane that crashed a while back. When they found the black boxes, they called it pilot suicide. The co-pilot locked the cockpit after the pilot left the cabin to go to the bathroom. That's just STUPID. I don't know why all airlines don't treat the cockpit like a nuclear weapon with the 2 man policy. Both pilots should be armed, and both pilots should have KEYS to get in.
I think were splitting hairs. I can't argue with what's on the CVR, + FDR. If they had their own lavatory, they wouldn't have to leave the cockpit. I'm not trying to punish all pilots, but obviously you can do a lot of damage in 30 secs.
My guess is that it crash landed in the ocean in such a way that it didn't break apart into pieces (hence the lack of large, floating wreckage)... it simply filled with water and sank, imploding like a submarine when it had dropped deep enough. What did come to the surface isn't big enough to be easily spotted.
Tragic thing... I really truly hope the families get answers to what happened as soon as possible. They deserve something, anything, to help them find closure.
It was night time (about 1:20 am local time). The voice was male, likely the pilot or co-pilot. Not a flight attendant.

I'm a simple minded person. The voice, "all right, good night". Was it actually night time, when that was said?? Could one of the pilots be going to take a nap?? Could a stuwardess be leaving the cock-pit, like a good bye??
