It was about time someone made this post.

If you don’t know the monty hall problem here are the rules.

1. You are on a game show and you have 3 doors to choose from

2. Two have nothing behind them and one has 10 million dollars in cash. (And it is not a scam)

3. Assuming you chose door one, the host of the show reveals that door 3 has nothing behind it.

4. In this situation you want the money. And the host gives you the choice to switch to door two. (You don’t know wich is behind either)

Q. Should you switch? Does it even matter? Why?

The first person who is right in all three questions earns my respect 🫡.

Switch.

It’s kinda hard to explain. We all know that 3 doors means there’s a 1/3 chance of winning the money. The assumption is that if you open an empty door, your chances becomes 50/50….but that’s wrong. Basically, by revealing an empty door, you up your chances with an extra 1/3. So by switching doors you now have a 2/3 chance of winning instead of 1/3.

So the correct answer is to switch doors ONLY if the host reveals an empty door.

Yes

1/3 chance that you pick the money. When they reveal an empty door, there is still a 1/3 chance you have the money, and a 2/3 chance you don’t. Always switch if you want the money
