I mean... it's a joke right?

An easy way to make a character look older is give them larger ears and nose, and smaller eyes.

So cartoons of kids, for kids, usually have characters with either an extremely small nose, or no nose at all.

I'm just poking fun at something the OP probably didn't even realize himself.
