I’ve enjoyed playing on this site. But it basically doesn’t work.

I’m off.

There were some code updates that introduced some bugs. Those updates have been reverted now. One of the bugs was with daily games, so any moves made when the bug was active, may not have actually been made and will need to be made again.

Right.

As you say, the site doesn’t work.

(And it isn’t possible to make the move again)

It appears the app and website aren’t sync’d. The website shows it’s my turn to move, but I’ve made the move on the app. Maybe it’ll straighten out soon.

It can’t “straighten out soon”. I’ve already lost over 20 crucial (for me) games.

That would be maddening for sure. 😡

If the move has been made and it's saying it's your move in notifications, it may actually be your opponent's move. That's the primary daily bug. Your opponent moved, it gave you the alert and seems to indicate it's your move, but it's really still your opponent's move that didn't actually get made.

If you made a move while the bug was active, you may need to make that move again because it likely didn't not make it to the back-end.

Contact support and they likely will be able to handle it.

Anyone with a lost game should contact support directly.

Why is chess.com going out of wack. First the forum time stamps and list, now this? What’s next. The entire forum threads will be wiped?

Please don’t take any notice of this “Martin Stahl” guy.

I think he may be from chess.com. The site is broken. They can’t “handle it”.

I used to play a lot of games on this site, and I’m now losing games, which I can do nothing about, every few seconds. There’s no way it could all be unwound.

Ah. Martin. It says test status. Yeah, I’ve seen him before. A moderator or something.

I'm a moderator and communicate with staff. Just passing along the information I'm aware of and for something I don't know for sure, I pass along my understanding of what may be happening.

Yes, some things were broken by a code update that caused bugs. That code update was reverted back to working code and the site is working through the aftermath and follow-up. If that isn't handling it in your opinion, then not much else can be said wink.png

Have you guys figured out yet what the issue is. Is it the servers? Too much information to hold? Too many threads? What is it.

Oop, didn’t refresh until I posted. Posted at the same time. Don’t mind this comment.

Already stated. There were some code updates (i.e. new code) that got deployed and some of those updates caused the bugs seen. The site rolled back to the original code, so those bugs are fixed. The games that had moves during that time, apparently did not actually get made, so those games may need moves re-made, and for those with games lost on time, due to that, would need to contact support to work through.

What the actual code was that had bugs is something site will need to work through to fix before deploying again.

The question is: why did the update with such obvious bugs made it to production? Have they gotten rid of the QA team? Or did all the testers go on holiday and they decided to cross their fingers and release the code without properly testing it?

Really sloppy work. But sadly I am not surprised sad.png
