Why is it that as soon as I make a post in a thread others seem to stop posting?

It doesn't happen all the time but out of the 14 or so threads I've posted in I'd say well over half I've made a post or comment and that's managed to kill the thread completely.

Never been my intention to kill a conversation

Is it just me???

no, it's just coincidence don't worry about it

Promise???

yes, sure, these forums are weird sometimes, don't beat yourself up about them at all

Well, since you asked, I'll give it to you straight (even if the others are afraid to say it). I think some may find your profile pic, um, how's best to say this, "misleading".

After all, in your profile, you say you play, "au natural" on here just the way you like it -- and that's not represented accurately in your profile pic at all!

False advertisement. If you'll lie about that, how else will you attempt to deceive?

Do you see more clearly now why some may be afraid to engage you with posts?

In all seriousness though, like others here have said, I believe it's just coincidence too. :)

Additionally, I also find your posts to betray your higher than average intelligence.

Are you saying you think I am a tool, young lady?

This is the first time anyone has ever called me a spanner.

From the context, I don't think you meant it to be flattering. :-(

However, I am not an "object" to be used.

I am a living, breathing human being who has feelings you know. And, one who couldn't care less what you think, especially since you're completely wrong.

But what's funny, after having looked up what it means in British slang, it's obvious you misinterpreted my post only to reveal you're the only spanner between the two of us and that's a "you" problem that has nothing to do with me.

trysts

That looks like a wrench.

Yeah, that's what it is. Apparently, in England, "spanner" is not only what Americans call a wrench, but in slang, is also a perjorative meant to imply someone has low intelligence.

(She obviously misinterpreted my complimentary post responding to Soorat's as insulting and felt it was her duty to return the favor, even though my post was to Soorat and was a flattering one. Quite amusing, really.)

Is it any tool or just a wrench?

I'll have to defer to our resident expert Charlotte on the "Spanner" subject, since this is the first I've ever encountered the term.

Charlotte has a way with language. It's different than Scottrf who always says things like "tallyho" and "blimey".

(I'm a little highLaughing)

I'm also a little high.Cool (on stimulants about to take a college exam for a hybrid class online and want to be able to focus.)

I agree she has a way with language.

On Soorat's profile, Soorat basically says she likes to play on here because she can play "au natural" (naked).

I teasingly told her in my post maybe others were afraid to post with her because she wasn't naked in her profile pic too and that they found it misleading.

Most, except for the completely humourless, would see the intent of that as playful.

Then, I agreed with Charlotte about it probably just being coincidence that people weren't posting on Soorat's threads and even prefaced it by saying, "in all seriousness, though," which of course, means what came before it most likely contained humor.

Then, I agreed with Mr. Tark when he said Soorat's posts made her appear more intelligent than average when I said her posts betrayed her intelligence.

I think Charlotte somehow found a way to take it that I was insulting Soorat's looks, when I was doing the opposite, and then I think she thought I was insulting her intelligence with the word "betrayed" (even though in the context I used it, it means to reveal), when  again, I was complimenting her and not insulting.

Oh well. I'll forgive her and just strike it up to the intent getting lost in translation because of text where the tone could have been misinterpreted.

But, between you and me, I do think the way she just jumped to conclusions and insulted me like that means she's probably a spanner, don't you? Tongue Out

trysts

No, Charlotte's cool. I don't really understand your post, but I'm high so I'll probably understand it tomorrowLaughing

And you know, it's really nice to be high without having to smoke so muchSmile

Smile Yes, I feel you.

learningthemoves

Well, I'm off to take my exam before the deadline ends tonight, so take it easy.

You weren't the one to supremely kill the thread this time Soorat! Peace.

Your reply to Mr. Tarkanian made me laugh. " find me one post..." struck me as funny. You have a bright sense of humor. One thing I look for in a post. Definitely not a threadkiller.

winerkleiner

Is this thread a topic on thread killers?  If so that's what happened to people who disapearred-they all met their fate with the serial (thread) killer, sorry but that's the only explanation I have at the moment.

PS. The best suspect is a squirrel, in the park with a wrench.

Well the good news is I haven't killed this thread yet!

Sometimes only one post from me is all it takes - so the fact this one is still going at the moment is a miracle

Of course now I've said this I've probably cursed myself and this will probably be the post that kills the thread ...

gledz

I think you should write humourless posts.

Soorat92

you don't like my jokes?

or don't you like jokes on the threads in general?

can you show me how to write humourless posts?
