I have written a small game called Chess Cards based on Mate game created in 1915 by G.Capellen.

Although the game is played with cards, the luck of the draw has no influence on the result of the match (the players exchange the cards during the match). This makes it purely strategic. Of course it is not as complicated as real chess, but still is a nice break between the chess matches.
