Bro. If you’re going back in time, you will be sent to the location you were in at the time you’re heading back to right?

So if we’re in the past, why would the earth be positioned as it is in the present, it would also be where it was at the tome you’re heading back too

Film makers and some writers make the mistake of passing off their imagination as credibly scientific which is not correct in my opinion.

Any Comments?

You think you are so smart? Because you are so scientific?

A guy wrote a picture story (comic book) about a man who can fly (Superman) and made millions of dollars.

Who is smart now?

I have black magic i can kill anyone all over the world. I need his address and full name and a photo

I think there is already a novel of someone who has the power to kill anyone by thought alone.

@SunWorshipper

Write something smart. Truly smart. Ooh, I know 1+1=2.

Let's say you can go back in time, just like to take back chess moves. If you make a mistake, you can try another move.

How about that, by magic.

Oh, except your magic doesn't work in Backgammon.

I was losing a game, and I gambled on a longshot. I made the statistically inferior move, but that move saved me and I won the game.

In backgammon, it doesn't matter if you can recreate an earlier condition of the game, every roll is new gamble.

Imagine that. Imagine you have that magical power, but you forget that life can be like Backgammon. One accident, you got hit by a bus. The end. No more cheating.

How is that for an intelligent "thought experiment".

And that was already a Twilight Zone episode. A guy went back in time to see his favorite girl in class. Except his memory of her was rosier than reality.

That's somebody smart.

The concept is as old as time.

It is Plato's thought experiment. If you can put on a ring and become invisible (and throw in inaudible) by magic, what would you do?

Answer: You would commit every crime in the book.

We actually have the reverse power, that we also use badly, misuse.

The be invisible is to be somewhere but nobody sees you.

On TV and on in movie theaters, people can see and hear you, but you are not there!

We already have magical power, that we mis-use.

The problem is not in our powers, the problem is in us. People have known that for thousands of years, since Prometheus gave fire to Man and man use and mis-use fire.

Honestly I kinda agree with the op. My favourite sci fi movies are the ones based on reality. It’s why iron man is my favourite marvel franchise, and why my favourite sci fi movie is Trancendence. Both are at least partially based in reality, which is what gives you something to think about as you watch/read them.
