You know what else floats?  A duck.

Ducks float.  She floats, therefore she's a duck.

Modus Ponens

Ducks float, therefore ducks are witches.

That duck sank, that duck mustn't have been a witch.

Ducks may either sink or not sink.

Duck may either float or not float.

She sank, therefore she either was or wasn't a duck.

Modus ponens with syllogism.

She sank, therefore she wasn't a witch.

Modus tollens for surviving a witch trial.

She's no longer a duck or witch.

and Aristotle wants his duck back.

Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc: An action or thing happened, therefore it caused something that happened after it.
