The sun is gently reflecting of the sea. You're feeling warm and the clean air is beautiful to breathe .
You hear the gentle lapping of the waves on the shore .
You see a lighthouse in the distance . The sky is a beautiful light blue around it due to a sea mist.
You feel at one with nature and that life is beautiful .
You know it is lovely to be mindful at a beauty spot .
I go when it's quiet to the beach .
Christmas Day at the beach is lovely .
I had an experience earlier I wanted to share . I thought I wish I was dead . Does anybody else get that thought?
I'd like to talk about why it happens for me .
I have two children , a boy and a girl . See the thing is I'm really afraid of failing them . Letting them down .
I fear not being able to provide for them . When the fear is at its worse I wish for death .
I can't bear the thought of seeing them suffer on account of my actions or my lack of ability .
Sometimes the weight of responsibility is heavy .
But you know it's a fleeting thought . And actually my life is beautiful . Not perfect but beautiful . I love my life right now and I'm blessed in so many ways .
.. A Nice thought! .. But, is it - Merely a hypothetical thought?! .. If you Can't relate in Any way, to that message - I'd imagine, it Is! ] ;
Yes hypothetical my friend . I like that poem too though .
It's lovely the idea of love and support . Beautiful
Free will is a faith .
Where is it that free will was proven ? Where ?!!!
We see causality all around us don't we ?
We set our alarms because we need to go to work because we need payed , the alarm wakes us , we feel hungry and we know we need to eat to survive to function , our bodies crave particular things so we go for those things .
We love our families so we show affection before we leave , it's the middle of the week so the road is busy and we naturally feel stressed about being on time .
Causality , causality , causality .
And .
What are we ? We are a bunch of cells and chemistry that are a part of the universe . How does it make sense that free will would exist ? It just doesn't . It's nonsense .
And .
The likes of trysts will say God is a silly idea. Nature is the reality . And yet trysts is her own God . She thinks she defines the universe ! Rather than a creator creating the universe , she thinks she does on a moment to moment basis ! This tiny tiny speck of dust that is her she thinks can determine and define the direction the world travels in . More so than any gigantic planet and equal to any God except possibly without the superpower ! No wonder she's reluctant to let go of the free will idea . Her ego is out of control !
And .
It's not like a scientist has never considered this possible . Hawking and Einstein aren't so stupid and they both say free will is just an illusion .
And .
Given that all we are is cells and chemicals oughtn't the burden of proof be that free will exists rather than doesn't ? It's like saying prove to me that God doesn't exist , you can't disapprove a be negative .
And
We act as though causality exists all the time . Trysts will say to her partner I need this or that because she knows that a sequence of events exists , the causality chain . She asserts all is free will but she continually behaves as though causality is real .
In summing up I'm so frustrated by these people posting here over and over faith is flawed and then asserting free will exists .
People , free will is a faith !!!
Wow, Tom!
Okay, I'll try to be clearer if I can and hopefully you'll know that it's just little ol' me giving my opinion and not some egomaniacal moron telling you what to think, okay?:)
Why do you raise your kids if you think they're not free to make choices, Tom? What can you "teach" your children? That they are not responsible for anything they do because they're just a concatenation of chemical reactions to coporeal stimuli? That as they develop self-consciousness they are really maturing into an involuntary illusion? What's the point of that? Why even talk about yourself at all if you think there is no self, and if there is a self, it's imprisoned without even the freedom to love or hate imprisonment? Why even lie to us about your heavy burden of responsibility when you don't even believe that we have the free will to throw the burden on the ground, to make mistakes and overcome them?
You obviously don't have enough information to reject the self-evident view that we have free will, otherwise you would not get so frustrated with me and you would just write a detailed account of why everyone on earth is living a lie. And if Mr. Hawking and Mr. Einstein said we have no free will, then there is a great chance that those views are deeply nuanced, and conditionally based upon semantics, which you've not attempted to express to me or others:)
That's why I don't feel concerned about that question. You'll always have at least a parcel of free will as soon as our perceivable world is concerned if your ideas are consistent, wherever they come from.
I'm continually reading the non religious group talking about how the religious group believe is foolish and in my view at least free will is every bit as much a belief and a foolish one at that .
Anyway thank you for replying . I always love reading you .
I'll read and respond . Thanks again .
Firstly I accept your argument that I haven't gave a clear reason for you to accept the existence of the absence of free will . Perhaps at some point I'll open a thread in respect of the free will debate and post only about that .
I have actually posted quite a bit of scientific theory as to how free will doesn't exist but it's been surrounded by my search for what we are .
If I'm honest right now I'm not especially interested in having a conversation about free will . I'm on a quest to learn what I am .

I hate beaches.
