Sometimes trying new things is good when you are playing an unrated game against someone harder than you. Sacrificing can give you a slight advantage or clear win in a game of chess. Lets say you do the Queen's Indian. Feandchedoing your queens Bishop (and attack to the black king side) can give you a sacrifice on the kings castle. You may want to Rook Lift too. Remember sacrificing and trying new things may not be THAT bad.
