How would you know that the universe is saddle shaped, why not oblong like most theoretical physicists think, anyway?

BTW, Bemuted. Have you heard about this scary world issue. Bananas may go extinct. I suggest you take as many pictures before this happens as possible. 
my favorite books that have helped my the most is "reassess your chess" by Jeremy Silman and reading "My 60 memorable games" by Fischer was very interesting and insightful.
This is an interesting topic, much like Global Warming, and I would believe in the Big Bang if I knew what caused it... What was the mysterious force that created the Universe?! Scientist call it "unexplained phenomena" which we refer to as, well you know, ***... As for why... It's beyond me. (just a theory)

The Ultra deep field photos taken by Hubble are astonishing. My question to you all is was there or wasn't there a big bang to start the Universe off? I welcome your serious opinions on this!!
