Im just wondering, how do threads always change-out-of subjects like this?

tittiesnxans

Yeah, I know, people just start talking and the subject gets a little out - of - way.

Nearly all subjects, answering your question. There was no way for me toshow that horsey lewy's goals, he's got me blocked, so i did on this forum. Wasn't right regarding the person who opened this forum.   *unfollowing.

2 + 2 is four.  now you just need a one using just mathematical symbols, no integers.  e, pi and i are all math symbols.  As you know from the Euler identity, e raised to the power of i x pi equals minus one, so the answer is 2 + 2 - (e raised to the power of i x pi).

2sqaured plus (1x2)

Or is the one illegal?

Only use two two's viscount
m_connors

2+2+(p/p)

Only two 2s used. +, p, ( ) and = are all math symbols. p is supposed to be Pi but cannot enter the proper math symbol for it. PI has an infinite value; however, anything divided by itself, by definition, is 1. Therefore, 2+2+(p/p) equates to 4+1=5.

Heh heh that's not the solution he's looking for but it looks true to me m-connors

Or on the same track as you....
2x2 + x/x = 5

(Squareroot .2)^-2 is right!!! NICE Gambit!

Square root of .2 squaredvis just .2, but to the NEGATIVE 2 power, it is 1 OVER .2, which is 2

Yep that's the answer but m-connors is right too
Jonathan-Harker
Pi is not just a symbol. Pi is a number 3.1415926535....

@VicountVonJames:  Your major problem with the answer you gave in #104 isn't that your "1" is illegal, it's that the expression you provided equals SIX, not five.  Put a dunce cap on your catvatar.

@Jonathan-Harker:  Pi is the sum of the infinite number of terms in the Taylor series 4 - 4/3 + 4/5 - 4/7 + 4/9...etc., and it can be expressed in a simple sigma format, but I don't know how to type a sigma with the stuff you need on the top and bottom into a chatbox.

Correct Jonathan and any number divided by itself is 1.... so m-connors found an alternative solution
Endapuppy
Nice one too Oregonpatzer, that's three solutions now

What happened to 4? 1, 2, 3 , 4, 5 . . .       I + I     I + I  = 2+2 = 4 not, sadly, 5.

Take .2 and raise it to the power of -2 and then take the square root.

Correct!
