I disagree. Feelings are what lead to useful information. How can one grow if one always stays in the realm of reasonable?

Yeah. But does saying, "I'm sad," do anything to help you? No. You need to convert the feelings into your writing if you wanna be dramatic.
I think you misunderstand what I meant. Feelings have usefulness. Not emotional responses. But gut feelings
