That's fun Stacy. Keep the humor coming, ignore the people who don't get it.

The responses are just as fun as the posting.

He's pretty much stuck in Iceland, and few if not none are going to give him a media resources to speak anymore since his offensive comments. So his negative impact "today" is quite small.

While it is true that it would be quite difficult to bring him in and actually analyze him in person for the presence of a pyschological disorder, judging from his behavior it is in my opinion (take that as you may. Pyschology is my passion and regardless of my age or level of education I have knowledge in the area) that he is suffering from some sort of disorder.

The man resigned his title as World champion because "FIDE postulated that the player achieving nine victories first would win the match", instead of Fischer's demand that "In case of a 9:9 score, champion (Fischer) retains his title."

"In 1982, Fischer published the pamphlet, "I Was Tortured in the Pasadena Jailhouse!", detailing his experiences following his arrest in 1981 after being mistaken for a wanted bank robber. Fischer alleged that the police treated him brutally. He was eventually charged with damaging prison property (a mattress)."

"In 1999, he gave a call-in interview to a radio station in Budapest, Hungary, during which he described himself as the "victim of an international Jewish conspiracy." Fischer's sudden re-emergence was apparently triggered when some of his belongings, which had been stored in a Pasadena, California storage unit, were sold by the landlord, who claimed it was in response to nonpayment of rent. Fischer interpreted this as further evidence of a worldwide Jewish conspiracy perpetrated by "the Jew-controlled U.S. Government" to defame and destroy him."

And lets not even bring up his quotes. I will only post one due to their offensive nature. the rest can be found at: http://en.wikiquote.org/wiki/Bobby_Fischer

"Almost everyone who has been around me turned out to be a secret agent working for the Jews, working for the CIA... The Jews have planted so many of their Jew agents and CIA rats all around me. So many people... Girlfriends, lawyers, everybody almost, turned out to be working for the CIA and the Jews! Unbelievable but true." — Speaking on Bombo Radyo, Philippines

Im sure you can sense a huge degree of paranoia in this quote. I also see delusions of grandeur and persecution, which are symptoms of someone suffering from schizophrenia. Now, I dont mean to diagnoss bobby for a pyschological disorder just based on just analyzing his quotes and actions, but my opinion on the matter is that Bobby Fischer was an amazing chess player who revolutionized chess and brought a wealth of new theory, games, and players to the game. I respect him for his contributions to the world of chess and I have pity on the fact that he has fallen so far from his former glory.

This is for real: I saw those personal items for sale on eBay. The entire lot was going for about $200. No bids. There were some signed game sheets, photos, some books, nothing big big deal. It was still interesting. There were photos and such, but there wasn't much buzz on eBay about it.

Nice, you should bid for me. I'll trade you my signed Nimzowitch Rules t-shirt.

And a Garry Kasparov bobble-head. for real

That auction was a while back.

People who continually attack Fischer on a chess server are pathetic imo . His very persecution lends much credence to many of his paranoid outbursts. If he had said the same things about Mormons or Muslims we would hear little, if anything , about it. As an American I dont believe he hates all Americans, I think his rants against Americans are basically against the US govt more than the general populace. He brought big money into chess for the top players and better playing conditions for the top players. He brought more world wide recognition to the game than any player in history. He should be respected for his contributions to chess , especially on a chess server, regardless of his politics or his personal opinions.

I agree that contually slamming him on the Internet is pretty lame, but has it occured to you that people started talking about him like this only after he started raving about persecution? It's pretty clear that to whatever extent his paranoid fantasy is true, it's of his own making.

Try keeping your advice to yourself. Fischer is simply a living legend and as such deserves some respect, no matter who he hates. Tell me who has he ever harmed physically? None that I can think of, but he has said things people dont like <gasp>   WHO CARES?! Einstein is seen as some sort of hero today and yet I have read he was also a wife beater, lets attack him instead , especially since this is NOT a math server/club.

The problem is that all we know about Fischer is what we read and a great deal of what we read are written by people who hate him. I dont think it very wise at all to judge someone by what their enemies say about them. Many seem to think he is crazy, ok, if he's crazy since when did people take a crazy person so seriously? If he isnt crazy then why do so many claim he is?

Yes, a great deal of what we read is written by people who hate him, but a great deal of it is also written by people who love him. Should we ignore the former and embrace the latter just to make you feel good? It is equally unwise to judge a person only by what his friends say about him.

11. New liver. (whoops, too late!)

Anyone who thinks terrorism is a good thing negates anything good they have ever done. After all, he was only a bloody chess player, albeit, a reasonably good one. He was a prat, Just because a man can play a game quite well, it doesn't give him the right talk s***!

 resonably good? He was amazing!

I've studied his games against Boris Spazmo and to be honest, his use of the horse was a bit suspect. In one of the games he moved it one-two and across, whereas, in my opinion (and I know my stuff), if he had moved it across one-two he would have won the game. If only he had spoken to me first.
StacyBearden
Absolutely, Tony. Absolutely. I know the exact move you're speaking of. Also, the pepper-shaker looking pieces that are on the sides of the board...he didn't move those until almost last. Maybe because his were salt shakers. Who knows? Was he watching his sodium intake? Perhaps. Very prudent of him. The horses hopping all around could have disoriented him. They disorient me. I just hop around with my pepper shakers. Sometimes with my salt shakers, depending on if I'm black or white during a match. Which do you prefer: salt or pepper?
TonyGas

Stacy, I Know exactly where you are coming from. I once accidently poured salt on my king's prawn and it totally messed up my obnoxious indian gamble.

Salt or Pepper; now there is a dilemma. I think I would have to go for the one in the tight leather pants, shaking her booty...but thats a whole new topic.

StacyBearden
I think you're talking about the Queen. Queen Latifa? Probably not.
