Actually, he used to send a lot of cheapshots and wisecracks my way. But he was after all a cat, so I pretty much expected that.
I saw a few of the humorous and mischievous ones, GOP, and I think the little guy was actually quite fond of you. He's probably out there in pouring sleet right this moment, huddled for warmth, wondering if his friend GOP might help rescue him.
Sure, he teased folks, but I think his intent was always humor, never meanspiritedness. I hope he's okay.
