it can also happen for more recent forums (e.g. 1 hour ago)

#1 it’s basically jst a way people try to get forums towards the top and so they “bump” it up

Bump moves the topic back up to the top of the feed. It has no power in and of itself, it just reprioritizes the thread without really having to say anything.
