It's a misnomer. It suggests hatred of another race but there is only one race - the human race. Hating someone from your own race is therefore not what is meant by racism. Ethnicism is better. Hating someone from a different ethnic group but the word is clumsy. Hating someone purely because they are different is stupid so stupidity is a much better word. So is the word I tried to type but it would not allow :)

Actually to hate anyone for any reason is stupid. Sometimes it is easy to understand but not if you hate someone you have not met for something they have not chosen. Ethnic group, sexuality, gender... Etc
