One of my favourite books is the dark forest, a continuation of the three body problem. Another is executive orders, 95% of the book is buildup to the actual crisis.

I think it was LOTR, burn I’m reading a book series (stormlight archives) that has 10 books with ca. 700 pages per book. I only finished the first book and I’m about to read the second one, so far I rly like it tho.

Speed reading doesn’t really count as reading. It’s skimming. If you’re not reading slowly enough to imagine the voices of the characters in their dialogue, you’re just skimming the book and not gaining the imaginational benefit.

I get it. Homework stinks, and you have other things to do with your time. The volume of assigned reading is out-of-control. Skimming is a necessary in college.

When you find a novel you connect with, though, take your time with it. One book truly “read” is more valuable to you than stacks of skimmed ones.
