If you want to understand what war is really about you should just think of the reasons a man will die for : Power,Love,Religion,Selfdefense....
In every war there is bigger loser and a small loser (the winner), so the defenetion of war depends on your angle of view and looking at your given defenition of war i'll say that's from the loser angle of view but for a winner, war is about losing a little to gain much more that's all...
How about a nuclear war.
The goal in war is to lose the least.
