when a team wins a game or match by not allowing the opposition to score. In other words, one team does not score during the game.

Yes, it is when the opponent team/player does not score. I would not consider 0-0 a shutout. I feel like you have to score a point to have a shutout.

0-0 is a shutout in my opinion. You didn’t allow your opponent to score. They didn’t allow you to score as well, so they had a shutout too.

A 0-0 final also counts as a shutout. Another term is a clean sheet.

Shutout is a baseball term; most English-speaking places in the world call a football (soccer in the US) shutout a clean sheet.

Shutouts are also common in hockey. If they were to happen in basketball the winning team is really good and the losing team is really bad!
