UGH

*slinks away to not discuss the Wolverines till next summer....*

The most difficult thing for Wolverine fans to swallow is not just losing their spot as the best football team in MI, but falling to #3 or #4 in the state!  Depending on whether you decide to put the woeful Detroit Lions ahead of them at #3 given their fluke win yesterday.  (at least THEY can beat a team from Ohio!)

Central Michigan though has to be the top football team in Michigan!  Given their win over MI State Spartans and the Spartans spanking of the Wolverines one feels compelled to give the Chippewas top billing.........   To add insult to injury, even Bruce Springsteen knew the Buckeyes were going to beat MI and rubbed it in a week prior to the game!  Though he does claim it was a mistake.  The old "touring band not knowing where they are syndrome" excuse!  Billium?  Does that make Dahan's earlier suggestion of Springsteen's "City Of Ruins" more or less appropriate?

See the below article from the NY Times

Late last week, Bruce Springsteen took the stage at a sports arena north of Detroit and greeted his Michigan audience with a cheerful “Hello, Ohio!”

Rich Rodriguez's training practices are under investigation.

After several more references to the Buckeye State, a bandmate whispered a location correction, and Springsteen (who was born in New Jersey) apologized to the Michiganders.

His timing was ironic. The faux pas came about a week before the annual college football showdown between Michigan and Ohio State, ancient rivals who will play Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Springsteen’s confusion seemed to underscore the current malaise affecting the Great Lakes State and one of its (once) most prestigious teams.

Thanks for all the GREAT suggestions!!!  Believe it or not, I'm listening to every single song that's recommended.

Here's a cool amateur video I found for Roccy Raccon:

Zombie, is there one that says "Go back home to West Virginia!"  Wink  Awesome connection, but unfortunately John Denver sings it from the wrong perspective.  That would seem to indicate HE is stuck with US, rather than the other way around.  I still loved the association tho!!  Good one!!  Cool

Tonydal, I can't find that Sammy Hagar song.  Are you sure that's the title?

true Billium, but when you look at coach on the sidelines....... I figured Rich must be escaping into some other zone.  It sure is not the end zone!  We can tell his mind is not on the game, so I just thought he may be in a whistful state, singing to himself a John Denver sound track; "Back Home Again" as well as "Country Roads" in an effort to calm himself.

Since the state of WV would likely turn him away...... You guys can send him packing to Illinois (his OTHER birth place)......  It seems he is as confused about his birth as he seems to be on the sidelines!

BTW, has anyone suggested the Led Zep song "Dazed and Confused"?  would be paired nicely with Dahan's suggestion

Hendix "Manic Depression" would be a good one too!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=itXbYH8X5Y0&feature=related

It could apply to the fans, the team, or specific fumbling/pass dropping players!

For those unfamiliar, the 1st verse is as follows:

Manic depression is touching my soul
I know what I want but I just don't know
How to, go about gettin' it
Feeling sweet feeling,
Drops from my fingers, fingers
Manic depression is catchin' my soul

How 'bout Leadbelly's "Goodnight Irene"?

Sometimes I live in the country

Sometimes I live in town

Sometimes I have the great notion

to jump into the river

and drown

Ok, I slapped something together.  Keep in mind that this is my first project with my new editing software, so I'm still learning how to do things.  I was just happy that I could finally go from a VCR or DVD into my computer!!!  Thanks to everyone who came up with all the great song ideas.  This is the one that I think best captures my feelings and perspective at this time.  Cool

Michigan loses to Ohio State 21-10.  Michigan fumbled the ball, threw interceptions, and certainly did not look like the winningest team in NCAA history.  In fact this was our second losing season in a row.  We had the longest continuous bowl streak, and longest consecutive winning season streak broken last year, and yet Coach Rodriguez has yet to have a winning season as a Wolverine.  Ohio State has now beaten us 6 years in a row, and 8 of the last 9 years (since Jim Tressel took over).

I'm throwing together a little music video with today's game footage to express my frustration with my favorite team (it's basically just an excuse to play with my new editing software ).  I need the perfect song to accompany the visuals.

It can't be too harsh, cuz they're still my favorite team, and always will be no matter what.  So something like "Loser" by Beck won't work.

Breakdown by Tom Petty?

I Missed Again by Pill Collins?

What are your ideas?  If I pick your song, I'll mention you in the credits.

Bon Jovi's latest uplifting song.  I think it's called 'We Weren't Born To Follow.'.  Sounds like what your team needs.

My team needs a little boostavazoo too.  Frown

I don't know but I went to Miami U. of Ohio and Ohio State would kick our butts every year.  Why did we even play them?  I didn't PLAY of course, but a friend of mine from Cleveland did and he wound always say "Oh man, they HIT us, and HIT us!"

How about PF's "Pigs on the Wing?"  See?  I have no idea.  How about some 25 min. long Yes Epic? (/me ducks).  Bach's Prelude & Fugue in D minor?  Hanson?  The Monkees?   Revolution 9.
