Why are there so many trolls here?

If it's any consolation a friend has assured me that the chat forums on the poker websites are much worse, you get everything you see here and more, with death threats thrown in for good measure.
Trolls here stick around a lot longer because they pay for premium memberships. The management doesn't want to close down accounts that they are making money from. Premium membership also has the effect that the troll believes they have invested in the site and are motivated to participate more.

Seriously, this is chess. It is unreal how nasty people get to each other over a game of chess. I have had people threaten my family, call me every name in the book, and just show a complete disregard for human decency. Is it because people can hide behind their computers?!
