What I always wanted to know is why Oral Roberts University had a medical school. They could just walk sick people through Oral's office and have him touch them.

Details? What does it have to do with "why are we here"?

Why even ask the question? Nobody knows why we are here. Believe what you want to believe; Nothing can be proven.

The "Truth" can be proven if you humble your heart and accept it. On the other hand, it`s important to be curious.

What does humility have to do with it other than pre-emptively dismissing all counter arguments as arrogant?

I mean really, stop and think about it. If your message as a Christian is that "the most important and powerful being has a personal interest in you as an individual, and loves you" then this requires no humility to accept. In fact it would help to be pretty arrogant.

This is a common pattern with religious types. They repeat phrases that sound nice, but those phrases don't really mean anything. In this case it's worse, it's both hypocritical (dismissing arguments as arrogant without first considering them is itself arrogant) and backwards (the idea that God loves you is not a humbling idea).

By the way, epistemology is my main issue with religion.

Religion says knowledge comes from authority and tradition... these are awful sources of knowledge, and thousands of years of human history proves it.

You can certainly have faith by choosing to believe things, but you can't have knowledge (or proof) by choosing to believe things.

Being humble is important because God resists the prideful and they resist God.

The knowledge from the true religion comes from history and people inspired by God.

It does require humility because people want to keep living their sinful lives.

It is logical, not prideful, to point out the fact that all humans, (across time and culture) have made up Gods and then worshiped them. It is logical, not prideful, to point out the fact that conviction is not a substitute for real knowledge. It is a matter of historical record, not prideful, that when looking at old Biblical manuscripts, we can see where scribes changed, added, or deleted passages in an effort to remove elements they thought were inconsistent or so that the teachings conformed to their current beliefs. It's also a matter of historical record that entire books have been added or removed from the Bible and that what the Christian church says is doctrine has changed through history.

It is simply a fact that humans make up religions, and that Christianity, in every way, looks and behaves like a man made religion. Telling people to turn off their mind and just believe is not an argument.

Bro… you have to realize this is off topic.. and as well not even an accepted discussion, yet has been nicely allowed to continue, and let’s hope that stands, but let’s recognize the others here only are addressing that fact, and yes our hearts indeed are still for their best, anyone’s yet saved absolutely, so let’s do our best to have their realization to the dire need of such The Savior of their souls, anyone’s, lest he haves horns, and his lousy minions that chose his monstrous barbaric idiotic way obviously to rebel The INFINITE Of Intelligence. yes?happy.png

Had there not been such an arrogant idiot way before time to even consider rebelling God’s Infinite Intelligence there wouldn’t ever had even been such the terribly ridiculous words as ‘arrogance hypocrite, nor ignorance’, llama.

The garden of Eden is not historical, it's allegory.
