This is first and foremostly a chess website. Threads about chess are more likely to be more talked about, as are chat rooms because kids use them.
Also, keep in mind that not many people play chess, especially not to the level where they have an online account. Not everyone enjoys football either, and seeing the two hobbies are relatively different, few people like both.
I'm sure many people like myself enjoy football and watch the World Cup but don't make threads about it with people we don't know on chess,com- especially seeing half of them know nothing about football.
