wow. thats pathetic they should stop wasting peoples time lol
why dont players resign?
geez i had trouble mating with two bishops, so he should have resigned, instead of played on. Its wasting time and ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC. no ettiquette or respect at all.
Because low rated players routinely fail to convert winning positions.
People will start "respecting" you and resigning when you prove to them you know how to effortlessly win from certain positions within your remaining time frame.
Also, I notice in general that low rated players tend to complain the most when their opponents refuse to resign. I very rarely hear someone 1800+ rating complain about this.
My theory is that deep down, you're scared you're going to screw up and lose/draw a winning position. That's why you want your opponent to resign. You feel that you've "earned" the win by getting such a position in the first place and you know it will hurt if you mess it up from poor technique (which could happen!).
The solution to this is to work on your own game and your own technique: learn how to consistently win certain positions without blundering. Practice those positions against Stockfish. Then you'll stop caring if your opponent doesn't resign, because you'll have the confidence to know that you can effortlessly pull a win without blundering.

i have to complain due to the fact that my opponent does not respect ettiquette, this is simply outrageous as how players stubbornly hold on to lost positions. even if i blundered and i was a draw, what would my opponent have gotten from that draw? why are there so many tryhards out there who think winning is everything?
aw stinky poop i don know how to checkmate with king and two bishop ;-;
me neither shhhhhhh
yeah! i just barely got that win. do people these days have nothing else to do then play chess in a clearly lost position?
again, etiquette is required of chess players, and RESPECT YOUR OPPONENT, you will never get anything out of that hard earned draw except a trip to sore loserdom. youre opponent does not deserve to play endlessly in a pointless position
i've spent 30 minutes and still cant get this two bishop checkmate ;-;
yes. CAN YOU BELIEVE HOW MUCH TIME WASTED when your opponent doesnt resign? if you see one of those tryhards, please tell me so i can block him, and therefore have no chance of playing him.

Dude if you failed to convert the winning position, then that just proves my point. They were justified in playing on.
Yes, we're playing chess for fun, but we're also taking the game seriously and trying to achieve the best results possible. That's what makes it fun.
We want to pull wins out of drawish positions, and we want to pull draws from losing positions. When we're down material, we want to complicate the position as much as possible and make it as difficult as possible for our opponent to checkmate us. That's how chess is played. You don't go down without a fight.
You're not supposed to resign unless your position is totally hopeless; unless there's no chance you can swindle a draw or win.
And if your opponents are pulling draws and wins, then that just proves that their position was never as hopeless as you thought it was.
When I play my friend for fun (he's around 1000 rating on Chess.com), I will usually play without a queen. Sometimes I'll win, sometimes I'll draw and sometimes I'll lose, but even though I'm starting the game at a significant disadvantage, I never make it easy for him. I make him fight for it.
So according to you, I should just resign on move 1 against him, because my position is objectively lost when I'm down a queen?
If you've got respect for your opponent then stop moaning about them trying to get a draw. If you think it's an easy win then prove it
Because they don't have to. Stop making posts on this severely over saturated topic. People will do whatever they want within the rules. Some people will slowly mate u despite the fact they could do it quicker, some will play till mate, some will flag u on time, get used to it.
No one cares how much u cry about it, making posts doesn't stop people from doing what they want, if anything it fuels them to do it more so.

A person forced me to mate him with 2 bishops. We played until the very end, wasting lots of both of our time, and extending the game to 90 moves! why do some players never resign, do they not have the resign button? https://www.chess.com/game/live/5993866380
