Why is it so hard for you to accept that evolution is fact?

Is it because:
- You think that because it’s called ‘the theory of evolution’ it means it’s totally unproven?
- It violates your religious tenets.
- You actually think evolution is a fact but you think neo-Darwinism is nonsense.
- You’re a backwater American inbred hick with six fingers per hand.
- You’re OK with the science but worry that people will use it to justify nihilism.

Feel free to come up with your own reasons.

Trolling will not be tolerated. In the spirit of the existing evolution thread, I will block you on a whim.

There’s as much science to support Intelligent Design as there is to support the theory of evolution.

well alright I'll give one, they refuse to believe in it because they focus on the small inconsistencies instead of the things that actually prove something

#2 and the fact that if a species evolves to point where it becomes a new species it can no longer bread with members of the previous so that mutation would immediately die out so if evolution was fact all species would be able to interbreed. Evolution of a species obviously happens but the belief that all species came from a common ancestor is so flawed and still leave the open question how did life start we still can’t do it in a lab under perfect conditions much less is it going to got happen in such a hostile environment as ancient earth. Delete this message and you admit you’re wrong.

#13 You say that because you don't know the actual mechanics of how evolution and natural selection works. Your statement is contradictory in nature.

You know I wouldn't like my religious tents to be violated, Mr_hapless. If that happens, I could get wet if my wife throws me out. As you know, I believe in crayshun. I mean we don't none of us don't know where it all came from. The Big Bangers are especially wrong and I think that the whole universe came into being not fast but extremely slowly, almost like one atom at a time and that it's much older than we think: and is still coming into being, for that matter, just as it's also being extinguished. That's what gravity does. Or at least, gravity is a side effect of the extinction of matter. Why? The only answer is "because it has to ... it's in its nature". I've tried to explain to Mr Elroch but he's a bit undernourished, morally speaking. Some people's morals still won't allow them to discuss environmental matters like this in an honest fashion.

I'll go and see if my wife wants more coffee. If you call round, I'll make some for you too. I've got a very interesting blend I made in the hopper thing atm.

There are Nobel prize-winning scientists that believe in Intelligent Design. There are also Evolutionist/Intelligent Design theorists. The Bible says, that to the Lord, 1,000 years is like a day and vice-versa. Therefore, there are Christians who believe that the world has been around for more than 10,000 years.

You have any Armenian coffee? That's my favorite. I have it in the house at ALL times. A lot of my students are Armenian so that's how I discovered it.

Avatar of Optimissed

I haven't. I do usually have about nine types of coffee bean and maybe another three which are blends I've made ... but no Armenian. The nearest I've ever been to Armenia is to the extreme far NE of Turkey and to NW Iran, so I might have tried it without knowing. What is Armenian coffee like?

As you possibly know, I'm not a religious person. In fact, I count myself an atheist, since although there are doubtless things which are wonderful and which exist without us knowing what they are, we humans do tend to characterise them as gods or a God, which in my view is quite understandable. Therefore I do also believe that Intelligent Design is rational, without actually believing in it myself. It certainly isn't irrational, given that our scientists haven't come close to figuring it all out.
