Besides, the projectile is traveling so fast that even if you did manage to move faster than mach 5, the projectile is so fast its more deadly than a bomb. (standard bombs/explosives, not nuclear)

wtf?? no. If u shoot a railgun, you just need to get remotely accurate. If U are a few hundred sqr ft off, u'll still make them toast. U can shoot up to 300 miles away
