You are the wrong shape for real thing. There is a song about it sung by a large choir. That's the way things are.
There are many other reasons for fake social media profiles and even some that are legitimate. Sometimes people have professional reasons for making fake social media profiles, such as doctors who don’t want to befriended by their patients or folks who have strict rules about such things handed down from HR. There are even some folks who just make fake social media profiles so they can use them for online gaming anonymously – online gaming can be a dangerous place and a little bit of anonymity can go a long way. But the fake social media profiles that get the most attention are the most damaging ones – the hackers, the cyber bullies and cyberstalkers, and the trolls spreading fake news and divisiveness.
So how do you protect yourself against these fake social media accounts? There are a few things to look for. Profile pictures that are of inanimate objects, celebrities or obviously stolen images from people you know are likely to be fakes. If there are few followers or thousands of followers that’s a good indication you are looking at a fake. If there is a high number of followers but very little engagement it is likely that is a fake account.
Fake social media accounts are becoming a problem not just for society as a whole, but also for companies. They can be used to wage war against a company for shady reasons, and it can turn into a nightmare for the target company when it happens.
I pose as Tonya Harding, because:
A) I want people to give me lots of money thinking I'm her... Or
B) In spite of the scandal at the end of her career, I still consider her as a sports model to follow, stepping out from the poorest and trashiest social environement to Vice Champion of the World, and multiple times Champion of the USA. (And I care not for people to know who I really am).
What do you think? Should we also ban fake nicknames and fake aliases? And fake lies?
All fake profiles need not to be banned. Only fake profiles that are the cyber bullies and cyber stalkers, and the trolls spreading fake news and divisiveness must be banned.
if you have a problem to this site go look for a site where you and your other "real" friends bond together, chess.com doesn't have the rule to use your own personal identity to join so go look for your dream site.

No, you're plain wrong, on a site like this one, the only possible fake profiles there can be, is someone posing as someone else, like someone posing as "John Doe USCF 1680" when they are not John Doe. The rest is only your imagination. Chess.com is a place intended for people to play under nicknames and avatar pictures. Who ever register under their real ID and use a real photo of themselves do so because they want so. The others, are to be left alone, and need no wannabe cyber cop like you.
Only fake profiles that are the cyber bullies and cyber stalkers, and the trolls spreading fake news and divisiveness must be banned.
Take for instance, a Chess.com profile with real information cyber bullies, cyber stalks, trolls, and spreads divisiveness. Would it be fine just because the profile is 'legitimate?'
I say just ban the policy abusers in general. I don't mind interacting with people who have 'wacky' profiles as long as they follow the site's policies.
Listen Honey, This is not your strawberry world, where you can go near any stranger with your head tilted slightly right with an awkward smile and ask “can you polish my shoes, please?” And he/she replies “I would love to do that”.
This is the goddamn real world...where if ask in the same way you may receive any of these three things...kind rejection, unkind rejection or a shoe on your face.
People can avoid using there Real pic...they can keep different names...for there own safety. You can’t argue Mr. Wollysock over a cat’s photo. It is because of online predators, people keep things fake, I’m suggesting you the same. About the idea that only fake profiles that are the cyber bullies, trolls, etc must be banned...this is not a revolutionary idea/statement. People say ‘All the terrorists must be killed’ it’s not that easy...how will you figure out who is a good guy who is bad. Lies are bad, definitely bad...but keeping privacy is not bad.
One more thing, if you ask people about the shoes polish stuff with you head tilted slightly Left. Even then you’ll receive another shoe on your face.
(don’t take my insults seriously, they are meant for fun)
