I think hovershoes would bring the saga back around full circle again. Then we could have hover-horses, etc.

yet the first real flying car was basically a helicopter with wheals
The fictional science fiction author CW Longbottom envisioned a future in which humanity’s descendants, the Anaren, eschew backpacks and evolve pouches on their backs to carry many things, and they ride mechanical horses instead of cars. Longbottom was a visionary ahead of his time.
What’s the point of flying cars? They’re just cars but they can fly. We’ll have traffic either way.

Probably not anytime soon. What could possibly replace cars in the near future?
