yo wait are you able to legalize my alt?
If you contact support I'm sure they'll say a few chants and before you know it you'll have an official alt.

I don't really get a message saying "hey you alt has been verified" or something like that

It will take a few days for someone to review the request.
its been almost half a year...
What's the guideline you typically follow for yourself for determining whether or not to lock a thread? Is it strictly about the Community Guidelines or is it about conflict? I've seen some threads discussing topics that are against the community guidelines, but the person's talking were being pleasant and agreeable with each other, even when they disagreed. I've also seen plenty of threads talking about normal things, but they dissolve into heated arguments and insults. Is the line black and white or are there some gray areas?

All moderator actions will be based on violations of the community guidelines. Users may be warned, muted or possibly banned for repeated abuses of the community guidelines.
Some may try to hijack a topic to get it locked but this wont work because they will likely only get themselves muted. If the OP is violating the community policy I will likely lock the topic as well.
How many mods are there on chess.com
not enough grt
but there will be 1 more in about 2 years
what did @J-EZ_Music even do to get banned for
Only staff can ban accounts. That's between chess.com and the banished. I'm willing to wager 100 Elo that it was for violating the community policy.
but whenever I see a post/comment unfairly dissing a certain group or person or even nation (especially my OWN), then I feel compelled to respond...
You've discovered rage bait.

It takes lots of practice to deal with this. I recommend reporting it otherwise you risk getting warned or muted too.
I'm not always perfect. I try to be consistent and fair. Thank you for recognizing what we do.
