new, stronger game analysis almost here!
Computer analysis being really stupid
I have had the same problem with there computer analysis in the past, I just use Deep Rybka 4 when I analyze a game
Ah, thanks Erik. Obvious bugs like missing a mate aside, the analysis could use an overhaul for other reasons too.
To be honest, I tend to only look at blunders these days when investigating the current computer analysis. Inaccuracies very seldom make a difference (also because they are based on the supposed optimal play from each side, which you never see in games below 2000 rating), mistakes can also be quite trivial - it takes a blunder to be absolutely sure you've done something wrong.
So let's hope the new analysis is more helpful.
new, stronger game analysis almost here!
Okay, it's been 15 months, when will it be here? I just won a game where my opponent resigned when he saw that mate was inevitable. http://www.chess.com/echess/game.html?id=54280668
The computer analysis scores the final position as Mate09. However, it also scores my final move (Qd6+) as a Blunder!! Instead, it says the best move was Qb1, and offers a line of 12 moves that don't get to mate.
How can that be? Can anyone explain?
I had the same problem 2 weeks ago, you can see the faulty analysis here: http://www.chess.com/forum/view/game-analysis/what-am-i-missing
Don't get me wrong, even faulty analysis is better than nothing, I had a mate in 2 that I missed, and the computer pointed out to me. (The queen was just too tempting!) But this is one of the perks I'm paying for as a premium member. It's promoted on the membership page as "Our super-computers analyze your game and give you a fully-annotated report! Grandmaster-level computer game analysis!"
I don't feel that's what I'm getting.
I made a similar Post in "Help & Support" some 5 days ago...still waiting for an answer.

OK, supposedly the computer analysis feature has a rating of around 2500 for me (platinum membership), but from time to time it's really stupid.
Case in point is this game : http://www.chess.com/home/computer_analysis.html?id=43926410&game_type=1 (I hope at least admins can see the computer analysis as well). My opponent resigned, but if you look at the continuation the computer suggests, it misses a very clear mate - Rd1# in the last move. It looks like it ignores the threat all along, actually.
How is this possible?
