You know what? I have the exact same problem at my school and there's nothing you can do about it, since there are all those stereotypes about chess. If you go to your local chess club, you can find many people with the same interest.

I had a different experience. The chess club only allows 2nd graders and above. By the time I was third grade, I could beat everyone consistently except for one 6th grader. That year, I went to the k-3 section of the state championship with a 1000 rating. Everyone else coming from the same school expected me to annihilate the competition. But having been a big fish in a small pond, I didn't know what to expect. In the first three rounds, I got defeated TWICE BY 400s. Ended up in the middle of the pack, the four digit guy sticking out there like a sore thumb. In fourth grade, I conducted the "reign of terror" at my school. Still, I did subpar in the k-5 section. Next year, I began homeschooling, so the school was probably relieved. As a 1400, I was on track for a trophy but got upsetted AGAIN by a 1200. 6th grade is probably my best year, although it was in the k-8 section. I won all my games except for a 2000 and a draw against an 1800. At least after four years, I finally got a trophy in the top tenhappy.png. I think that was enough.

This makes me tell another story. Each year, our team plays against three other teams from their schools. The week before that day, people try to squeeze into the top twelve so that they can play in the cup, which the school gets to keep for the year if they win. In third grade, I played second board, and I only got 1.5/3, and got second to the team that had always been winning for the past four years or so. The next year, the Friday before, I was playing someone in rank number thirteen or so, and as I mentioned above, that was my "reign of terror". So he asked me to go easy on him, and I said,"I guess." But he tried to scholar's mate me, so I crushed him since he didn't deserve to go if he was going to attempt scholar's mates everywhere.Β

Now, the real story. This time around, I wrecked all my three opponents. Tensions were extremely high, and it came down to one board, in which he won! And the "announcer" said that second place was our school, and then said, "Wait, that's not right!". LOL.

My school doesn't even have a chess club. LOL.

Lol. I remember once I was putting up posters for my chess club in school and I saw something for the K-pop club. I seriously thought it was for Korean immigrants to learn English and stuff. Then when all the Chinese and Korean girls started going there I realized.

i once asked my teacher if we could get chess-coaching at school - he declined because he said sth like thats the last thing we need here years later i see that they implemented a chess coach coming there one a week for 2 hours ha!

If your classmates don't play chess that's good... for you.

Β

As you develop your mind and get better and better, you will rise far above them and they will never know why you are so much smarter than them. Β

Β

BTW, I could probably improve your rating by about 500 rating points in one day just by sharing a simple piece of strategy.Β  However, rather than having something just handed to you, I presume that you would rather earn it on your own.Β  So I wish you well. Β

If you can’t play chess OTB, that’s what c.c is here for.

I hate school, because here are stupid persons (I mean that I am too stupidhappy.png). Chess persons are very smart and logic (I no, it's truehappy.png).

Kamilotka

Kelly, you can open your chess school for your friends.happy.pngΒ And start teaching.

Β Create a chess club in your school. Bring a long a chess clock and play outside your room. That will attract onlookers.
