King of the Hill?

Hello!

I am a librarian running a chess club at our public library where we have 10 attendees and 5 boards with clocks.  It was suggested that we have the group play, "king of the hill".  Is there anyone who could offer some advice on this game?  Specifically:

clarifying that winners move up and losers stay?

What color do winners/losers play?

If player A wins (and stays) at board 1 playing white, while player C wins at board 2 and moves up to board 1, he must play black and player A retains white?

If player B loses at board one, does he drop down a board to board 2 or does he fall to the "bottom of the mountain" and start over at board 5?

Whichever board he goes to he would be facing another loser, so which color should he play?

Please help.

Thank You!

Why not have them play casual games without clocks?

Because the games end at incredibly varied times and they end up standing around forever wanting to play against other people.  We've been meeting since Sept. and that's what's been going on for the most part...switching to using the clocks may or may not help, but I would like to give it a try.

Do you know what king of the hill is? You have to get your king to the center(d4,d5,e4,e5) to win, and checkmate wins as well.
